Construction activity
The construction activity shows how many square metres that are under construction in Danish construction projects for new building work, extension and rebuilding. The statistics are compiled every quarter and give, for example, an overview of how much construction that is started and completed.

The physical commencement of a construction. The date of commencement of the construction work is registered in The Central Register of Buildings and Dwellings (BBR).
Construction for which either a commissioning permit, a temporary commissioning permit has been issued, or where the construction has been ascertained as completed, regardless of whether a commissioning permit exists. The date of completed construction is registered in The Central Register of Buildings and Dwellings (BBR).

The figure shows the area of total construction started broken down by residential buildings and production, administration etc.
For updating a building statistics register Statistics Denmark receives monthly data from the Central Register of Buildings and Dwellings.

The figure shows the number of dwellings started in total residential construction broken down by single-family houses, multi-dwelling buildings and other buildings.

The purpose of the Construction Activity statistics is to describe the development of the activity in construction in Denmark. The statistics are among other things used to estimate the business trends in the construction sector. The principal figures, i.e. without geographic distributions, is comparable back to 1998 and onwards, but historical surveys for the construction activity is available back to 1916.
The purpose of Index for Production in Construction (IPC) is to illustrate the business trends in the sector. These statistics have been compiled since autumn 2014, but is in its current form comparable from January 2000 and onwards.
