In recent years NSIs have been busy making their data available on the web, for whom? Until now we have focused on humans and traditionally divided users into groups such as: journalists, professionals and students.
NSIs are in the business of making two kinds of products; numerical analysis of society in some form and data which others will use for their own analysis.  The presentation aims at exploring alternatives and trends in disseminating statistical data as a source for other systems and analysis.  It will focus on technology as well as Statistics Iceland¿s plans for such dissemination, pricing and general organisation.
Web Services have made data exchange between systems relatively easy and therefore the use of Web Services in statistical dissemination has become an increasingly popular issue.  There are, however, many problems to be solved when running large scale Web Services.  How should they be managed, who are the users and what data should be web-serviced?
