Indicators
11.7.1
11.7.2Definition
The indicator shows the citizens’ possibility to access common public spaces in Danish urban areas. The spaces of urban areas that are open to the public are divided into three types: 1.) Paths, streets and roads, 2) Green spaces – including forests, parks and other natural resorts etc., 3) Other open spaces – including areas around educational institutions, sports centres and open-air swimming pools, town halls, public transport stations, hospitals, libraries etc., to which there is a registered road/path. Furthermore areas without any or with hardly any building stock (building sites, playing fields etc.) are included.
Only open air spaces have been included. Major covered spaces open to the public, such as shopping centres and railway station halls/platforms are not included.
The indicator was prepared in collaboration between Statistics Denmark and the Agency for Climate Data. Shares have been calculated on the basis of basic data from the Land Registry, Danish Place Names and GeoDanmark-data etc. as well as field maps and field blocks from the Danish Agency for Agriculture.
